I have been wanting to have a noise-canceling headphone for a couple months. The significant contribution to this decision is due to my traveling frequency has increased tremendously. I am striking some lucky strike to sit side by side with babies and kids in airplanes for couple flights. How I wish to have a noise-canceling headphone at that time. The crying sound, combined with some random shouting out of nowhere, makes me decide I am going to get my noise-canceling headphones.
With some extensive research, for my budget, I am down to two options, Bose QC35 or Sony WH-1000XM3. Bose noise-canceling headphone has been the top choice for many years since QC25, and when they come out QC35, it becomes a big hit in the market. Before Sony WH-1000XM3, Bose dominates the top place in this category. I had tried both QC25 and QC35, I personally love the sound so much. Clear, Balanced, and produce great sound. It is an excellent headphone for average people like me, but I can tell it would not fall into purist audiophile as their top selection of headphones.
Firstly, I like the battery life. 30 hours long for wireless activity. Now that is really outstanding battery performance. Not to mention that you can have at least 5 hours battery life with just 10 mins charge. For frequent travel, this feature is totally a killer. When I am unboxing mine, it survives from my departing from my house until I arrive at the hotel with a total of about 7 hours. Not to mention, I still have about 20% battery life without any single charge moment.
Secondly, the sound really amplified especially the bass part. I am not a fan of bass, but hotel California by Eagle sounds close enough from what I heard thru Mayer speaker. Sony WH-1000XM3 is not able to give full frequency 20-20K Hz in crystal clear, but it is outstanding for daily use. I love acoustic-based music, so guitar sound matters to me, and this headphone gives me that satisfaction.
Thirdly and most important, noise-canceling feature. I use on a flight with noisy chatty tourism all around me, and it significantly reduces noise when I did not turn on my music. Yes, I am still able to listen to a sound, but it is reduced substantially to a very minimum. So when I play my music the greatest showman. I can listen to every single tune. There is no airplane sound, and it gives me a feeling of sitting in a quiet room, just me and my music.
Fourth, it is soooooooo comfortable to wear. Seriously, once you wear headphones for a couple hours, you will tend to take it out. It is light and made from suitable materials which explain wearing it for long hours is excellent.
Touch control on the right ear. Put your hand on top, you can hear the surrounding sound without taking off your earphone. This killer feature is really convenient and practical!!! Secondly, you can control your music player with some touch gesture, to skip the track, increase or decrease the volume or to play or pause. Lastly, download sony apps to do more settings for your earphone. One significant feature is earphone pressure control. There are times when you are in an airplane, your ear will have some discomfort due to sudden pressure change, and this app will help to adjust that.
Their travel casing is proper as well, and inside comes with cable plug, airline adapter, and USB-C cable for charging. It is enough for travel. I really wish it is more compact so it does not take lots of space in the bag, but it is ok.
When you are charging, there is a red LED, and once it is off, it means it is fully charged. A great indicator to me, as overcharges are the main reason to make battery life span shorter faster than average.
The button located at the left ear, for pairing thru Bluetooth, controlling noise canceling (reduce, on or off), and knowing the battery life by pressing on a button.
This headphone is good enough for taking calls, the drawback is that it will pick surrounding sound as well. Considering this headphone is not for calling, so it is ok. The touch sensitivity is high. If you accidentally touch it, it will pause. The touch area is big, so randomly, the touch will happen from time to time.
My first family trip to Bangkok with my firstborn. My wife and I have been planning for a couple of months for this. The excitement from Bangkok city, especially the food!!! Street food, obviously. I told my wife that let’s spend our first two nights in Bangkok in a good hotel so that we can have good rest before the extensive walk. Why am I choosing Millennium Hilton Bangkok? I have three criteria for these.
The view from Millennium Hilton Bangkok is superb! I can see the beautiful Bangkok city, in the night as well afternoon. Why is the aspect important? Well, not because to get an excellent Instagram photo, but to have admiration towards the town itself. These pictures always give me an excellent fond memory in Bangkok.
The hotel receptionist proudly tells us that their bed is outstanding. I know about the Hilton bed standard, and I totally agree with it. What I like most is their pillow. Just laying down in this bed for 5 mins, I can fly to my dream world. If you book using their mobile apps, you can get an extra pillow without any additional cost. I get all the options to try the different from it. Since we will be staying more in the hotel, we might as well get the best sleeping environment as much as we can.
Yes, I put a bathtub as a requirement. My son and I play water to splash in the tub, soaking our self wet. My son loves playing with water.
Apart from that, the lobby has a unique design. I love the high ceiling and its light design.
One strong point is that their river taxi will send you to the nearest MRT station, as well as the boat station. It is easy to go by boat from the Millennium Hilton hotel, where you can go to many tourist spots located along the river.
Apart from a great view and beautiful facility, I seriously think their service required significantly improve. This is the hotel that gives me impression Westerner served better compare to Asian. When I am trying to get my omelet, I was in between two westerners. The chef greets them and asks in detail about the egg, while during my turn, somehow he becomes mute and deaf. I just want to get my order done fast so that he can greet the westerner behind me. The second incident, I have to stand for quite some time to get my seat during breakfast, so does some Asian who are in line. It is really noticeable when westerner is in front and how they serve them better. I really hope they improve in this area. Such a great hotel and sadly, the service is not reflecting the Hilton brand. Oh well, it does not to the point it spoil my holiday anyway.
This hotel is excellent for the family, solo traveler but not a business. The location is kinda tricky, so if you go to the business district using a taxi, it might take a long route to avoid heavy traffic. Their breakfast is not really something to look forward. The facility is well maintained and clean. The plus points are the view and boat transport.

Try to book early, like three months before so that you can get Hilton Honors discount for bed and breakfast. Joining Hilton Honors is free anyway.
Penang has become my favorite No 1 place in Malaysia for me. The transport in Penang is convenient, food is good, many attractions. I had been many times to Penang. Every single time is going Penang. I will make sure I would not miss its signature food. Especially their street food. A good sign is that it is cheaper compared to KL. If you are the first time in Penang, you will be overwhelmed by choices. Foods and attractions keep increasing. Penang is well known as the food capital of Malaysia. So it is more reason to go to the wonder food museum.
I decided to bring my family to the Wonderfood Museum. Located strategically at 49, Lebuh Pantai, George Town. Reading a couple of reviews and this place has high ratings. Sad to say for foreigner need to pay more expensive than local. Just that it is worth to go and play around. One thing for sure, be ready to take tons of pictures. The moment I step foot in this place, we keep taking photos.
The above three pictures are the most common foods that you can find in Malaysia. My favorite is a dish called Bak Kut Teh. It is pork meat that cooked with Chinese herbs. An excellent meal to have in raining or cold area. The famous place to have obviously in Klang town. 2018 Chinese new year is kinda near as this post was written. So many Chinese descendants will have dinner like the second picture. They usually have it with friends, family, or in a business setting. You can find many restaurants will pack with people. The third one is somehow easily found in Malaysia. Local Indian food called banana leaves. Taste has been localized, so you can expect it slightly different compared to India. They serve the dish on top of the banana leaves, which is where it gets the name.
Above is the complete picture of Malaysian Malay traditional food. A bit similar to the Indonesian one. One might argue that Malaysia is copying from Indonesia. Well, it is common to share certain similarities in terms of food anyway.
This is my favorite food in Penang. Penang laksa. It is fish-based food, with think taste of the soup. Well, blend with a sweet and sour taste. Some even taste spicy. Obviously, it must dish to have in Penang.
Malay dessert is rich in a variety of shape and texture. There are soft type, cake-type, and some kinda hard type. One thing for sure the sugar content is high. You need to get ready for your sweet tooth. Just be careful with diabetics.
Without a doubt, Roti canai has become a national dish. It is available almost every corner of Malaysia. The price is low. In fact, it often used as a reference to economic. You might hear the term, RM 1 for 1 roti canai. Which carries meaning that Ringgit is strong. Chili crab is has become a signature dish in Singapore. Personally, the Malaysia version’s taste is more substantial compared to Singapore’s. So I prefer the Malaysia version. Lastly, Satay. It is grill meat with peanut sauce.
Looking for a frozen dessert? Penang cendol is the answer. Famous cendol in Penang has one sign, a long queue. Nothing beats good cendol in a hot and sunny day.
One does not walk away from Penang without trying their cendol.
Well, above is my personal quote that I often say to my friends. The first time in Penang must try their cendol. It is a shaved ice, serve with coconut glasses of milk. Sometimes people are topping it with red beans and green jelly. It might be too sweet for some, so if you are under sugar control. Be ready to drink more water after the intake. My favorite is when they use brown sugar.
Yes, the main show of the museum is all about the food in Malaysia. But they also have a couple of theme rooms for people who dress up and taking a picture. What I like about the staff from the wonder food museum, they are friendly. Often they ask if we need assistance to take a picture with our camera. So be prepared to get your camera ready for a lot of photos.
At the end of the show, it comes back to the essential messages. You shall not waste any food. See the picture below, I was really impressed and fully support the moral behind it.
One side point they also show the element of unhealthy food. Take, for example of soda. Many know that drinking soda actually bad for health. So the illustrator below will tell you in detail. Why it is awful to drink soda. So it is better to drink plain water compare to any other soda drinks.
Overall, this place has become an essential place for me. I hope their work is bringing creativity to continue and have more variety in the future. Last but not least, hopefully, the hunger message is realized to all people so that they know they should not waste food anymore.
I came to Bandung a couple of times for business, and I finally found a hotel where I would love to stay whenever I am in Bandung. Be it for leisure or business. Tama boutique hotel will be my first choice. I got to know the hotel from Traveloka. When they have a big promotion for flight and hotel. I took a chance to book this hotel. After reading many reviews of Tama boutique hotel, I do realize there are tons of hotel in Bandung. To my surprise that Hilton Bandung cost cheaper than one in KL.
For business purposes, I am considering a few elements in a hotel before I make a decision to book. First, the location must be centralized or within 5 KM of places that I would like to go to frequently (checked). Second, it should have room service 24 hours, or there is nearby street food at night (both also have, so it is double-checked) — lastly, a hot water shower (absolutely checked). Now, my additional requirement will be no carpet, because I am pretty sure the hotel rarely clean their carpet except they only vacuum it.
When I arrive at the lobby, the ‘Woow’ element is substantial. Seriously I never see such a simple and yet beautifully cozy hotel before. I bet they spend a lot of interior design. The receptionist spoke English well, so you would not find difficulties with some requests that you would like to have.
I love the interior. It is clean, sleek, and zen. So many zen factors here. I bet when the plant grows longer, it will be more beautiful than now.
This is my room. The size is more significant than I expected and with Korean decoration. They have universal travel plug installed, so any plug you carry can plug directly.
The best thing about this hotel, their breakfast is marvelous!. If you book the room with a balcony, you can have such breakfast with amazing Bandung view. Ah, you can enjoy your breakfast in a hotel lobby or your bedroom. Just notify the receptionist, and they will make an arrangement for you. In fact, if you are a solo traveler during that time, you can order two sets of breakfast. Tips for great outdoor breakfast, do it before 8:30 AM. Before the road pack with the sound of motors and pollution. Did I mention that the opposite of this hotel has tons of street food? Yeah, you bet. You can try local delicacy just located in front of the hotel, or for a higher class, you can have an authentic Korean restaurant located at level 2.
Overall, I love this place. I have set my mind that whenever I am in Bandung, I will try my best to book this hotel.
